James E. Cunningham

James E. Cunningham (born August 28, 1916 in Santa Barbara , California , † June 6, 1992 in Riverside , California) was an American politician ( Republican Party ) and judge.

Life

During World War II , he served in the United States Army Air Forces . In 1947 he was elected mayor of San Bernardino . In 1951 he was elected in the 36th District as a Republican in the California Senate , to which he should belong for two terms. In 1957 he was appointed a judge in the San Bernardino County Superior Court by Governor Goodwin Knight . Cunningham held this post until 1977 when he retired. He was also President of the California Conference of Judges .

Cunningham was married with five children, two sons and three daughters. He was buried in the Riverside National Cemetery .
