James Glennon

James Michael Glennon (born August 29, 1942 in Los Angeles , California - † October 19, 2006 , ibid) was an American cameraman .

Life

James Michael Glennon was born in Los Angeles , California to script consultant Mary Coleman and cinematographer Bert Glennon . Against his father's wishes, Glennon studied film at UCLA . In 1968 he began his career in the mail division of Warner Bros. He personally brought his mail to the studio founder Jack L. Warner and received advice from him to buy a camera so that he could rent it out later. As a result, he himself came into contact with the camera system and was able to work as a cameraman in the Canadian documentary Jaws of Death in 1977 , while at the same time assisting other cameramen in other films. Since then he has been responsible for films such as The Flight of the Navigator , Election and About Schmidt as a cameraman.

Glennon was awarded an Emmy in 2005 for his work on the television series Deadwood .

Glennon died on October 19, 2006 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center of complications from prostate cancer . Until his death, he was married to Charmaine Witus, whom he married in 1977 and with whom he had four children, including actress Meghan Glennon .
