James Knox Polk Hall

James Knox Polk Hall (born September 30, 1844 in Milesburg , Center County , Pennsylvania , †  January 5, 1915 in Tampa , Florida ) was an American politician . Between 1899 and 1903 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

James Hall attended schools in Pittsburgh . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1866, he began to work in this profession. From 1867 to 1876 he was a district attorney in Elk County . Until 1883 he still practiced as a lawyer. Then he gave up this job to work in the coal business, the timber industry and the railroad industry. He also worked in the banking industry. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party .

In the congressional elections of 1898 Hall was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 28th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Republican William Carlile Arnold on March 4, 1899 . After being re-elected, he was able to complete almost two legislative terms in Congress until his resignation on November 29, 1902 . Between 1902 and 1914 Hall was a member of the Pennsylvania Senate . He died in Tampa on January 5, 1915 and was buried in Ridgway .
