William Carlile Arnold (1896)

William Carlile Arnold (born July 15, 1851 in Luthersburg , Clearfield County , Pennsylvania , †  March 20, 1906 in Muskegon , Michigan ) was an American politician . Between 1895 and 1899 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Arnold attended the common schools and then studied at the Phillips Academy in Andover ( Massachusetts ). After a subsequent law degree and his license to practice law in 1875, he began to work in Clearfield County in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party .

In the congressional elections of 1894 Arnold was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 28th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Democrat George Frederic Kribbs on March 4, 1895 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1899 . During this time the Spanish-American War of 1898 fell . In 1898 he was not re-elected.

After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, William Arnold practiced as a lawyer again. He died on March 20, 1906 while on business in Michigan and was buried in Curwensville .
