James Moran
James Michael Moran (born January 3, 1943 in Plainfield , New Jersey ) is an American astrophysicist .
James Moran studied at the University of Notre Dame and MIT ( Ph.D. 1968). He then worked at the Lincoln Laboratory until 1970 , and since then at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics . In 1973 he became a lecturer and in 1979 a professor at Harvard University . Since 2005 he has also been a professor at Nanjing University in China. In 1998 he was elected to the National Academy of Sciences , 2010 to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences , 2020 to the American Philosophical Society .
James Moran is married to the scientist and priestess Barbara Putney Smith-Moran and the couple have two children.
