The James River is a river in the east of the Australian Territory Northern Territory . It does not have water all year round.

geography

River course

The river has its source in the Barkly Tableland about 65 km northwest of Camooweal . It flows south, crosses under the Barkly Highway at Avon Downs and flows into the Ranken River about 20 km west of Austral Downs .
