James Wakhungu Situma (born November 11, 1984 in Ndivisi , Bungoma ) is a Kenyan national football player. He is a defender for AFC Leopards in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) and for the Kenyan national team .

Life

James Situma was born on November 11, 1984, the second of three children in Ndivisi. The first five years, he attended Misikhu RC Primary School , for the remaining three years Ndivisi Primary School . Then Situma went to the Sirakaru Secondary School in Tongaren . In 2003 he finished his school education.

Career

society

In his youth, James Situma first played for local club Ndivisi United and later as captain of his secondary school. There were friendly matches against the local KPL clubs Mumias Sugar FC and Nzoia Sugar FC . He was signed by the latter club in 2003 during his last school year. After the 2004/05 season Nzoia Sugar broke up and he moved to World Hope FC , with whom he won the President's Cup in the same year . In 2007 Situma signed with Sofapaka in the second division and became captain after two weeks. There he again won the President's Cup and in 2008 rose again to the KPL. In 2009 he became champion with Sofapaka and in 2010 he won the national cup for the third time.

In mid-2011 James Situma moved to KF Tirana , making him the first Kenyan to play in Albania's Superiors category and shortly afterwards winning the Albanian Cup. His visa expired when he was in Kenya in November 2011 for a qualifying match at the 2012 African Cup of Nations against Uganda . Renewing a longer visa did not work smoothly; To bridge the gap, Situma trained at his old club Sofapaka. However, according to Sofapaka President Elly Kalekwa, no transfer fees were paid due to a change in ownership of KF Tirana and so his contract, as well as Moses Arita , who moved from Thika United to Tirana, was terminated . Situma then played again at Sofapaka and took over the role of captain again.

In 2013, Situma's contract with Sofapaka expired and he moved to AFC Leopards for the 2014 season .

National team

Situma made his national team debut on January 9, 2010 in a friendly against Cameroon , where he made it 1-0 with a free kick and was substituted in the 57th minute. However, Kenya lost the game 3-1.

Situma was part of the team that won the CECAFA Cup 2013 .
