The Sofapaka Football Club or Sofapaka FC for short is a football club from Nairobi in Kenya . The club plays its home games at Nyayo National Stadium . The association is also called Batoto ba Mungu ( Kiswahili for children of God ).

history

The original club comes from the MAOS Ministry, was founded in 2002 and took part in church championships in football . In 2004 Elly Mboni Kalekwa took over the club, renamed it Sofapaka FC and started playing in the Nationwide League , the second Kenyan league. In 2007 Sofapaka won the FKL Cup , the Kenyan Cup, despite still playing in the second division and missing promotion to Bandari FC that season. It was not until 2008 that they were promoted to the highest Kenyan league. This season they also played for the first time at the CAF Confederation Cup , where the clubs from the countries of Central African Republic , Chad , Kenya , Rwanda and Sierra Leone were excluded from the competition due to the financial situation. In the following season, the team finished the league with first place in the table, although they had previously only been promoted. The first championship also took part in the CAF Champions League for the first time , where one of the Egyptian representatives Ismaily SC was eliminated in the first round . Sofapaka also won the Kenyan Supercup, in the final they defeated the AFC Leopards 1-0.

In 2010 they won their second cup, with a 2-0 final win against second division West Kenya Sugar .
