James Tanui

James Tanui ( 1974 - December 10, 2003 ) was a Kenyan long-distance runner .

The successes of the athlete from Kapsabet who started for the SC DHfK Leipzig included a victory in the Hamburg Half Marathon 2000 and a victory in the Wachau Marathon of the same year in the then record time of 2:14:32.

At Frankfurt Marathon 2003 he served Luminita Zaituc in their victory as pacemakers . A few weeks later he collapsed while on a training run while he was home and could not be resuscitated even after being admitted to hospital.
