Jan-Åke Lundberg

Jan-Åke Lundberg (* 1954 ) is a former Swedish football player . The striker , who made his debut for the Swedish national team in 1976 , made his entire career for Kalmar FF .

Career

Lundberg started playing soccer at Kalmar AIK . As a youth player, he moved to local rivals Kalmar FF. There he played in the second-rate men's team from 1973 and with 15 goals this season in the 1974 season ensured that the club returned to the first class twenty years after relegation from the Allsvenskan . Of particular importance was his 1-0 winner at the end of the season in a direct duel with IFK Göteborg , the competitor for promotion, who ultimately had to be content with the runner-up in the southern season. He was also able to convince in the Swedish elite series and national coach Georg "Åby" Ericson appointed him to the national team for a North Africa tour in early 1976. In the 1-1 draw against the Tunisian national team , he made his debut as a substitute for Thomas Sjöberg in the national jersey . Five days later he made his second international appearance in a 2-0 win over Algeria , replacing Thomas Ahlström . Not least because of his susceptibility to injury, he could not play in the national team.

With his club Lundberg was able to establish himself in the Allsvenskan and surprised in the 1977 season as third in the table. A year later he moved with the team in the final of the Swedish National Cup , which was lost to Malmö FF . In the summer of 1981 Kalmar FF reached the cup final again and alongside players like Nanne Bergstrand and Tommy Berggren , he won the club's first title with a 4-0 win over IF Elfsborg without having played in the final. A year later, Lundberg ended his active career after repeated injuries, in which he was able to achieve 29 goals in 130 games in the Allsvenskan.
