Kurt-Arne René "Nanne" Bergstrand (born April 28, 1956 in Markaryd ) is a former Swedish football player who now works as a coach. With Kalmar FF he won the Lennart Johansson Cup as a Swedish champion and the national cup , in the final of which he was two more times.

Career

Bergstrand started his career at Markaryds IF . In 1976 he left the club, with which he was promoted to the third division 3 Södra Götaland , and moved to the reigning champion Halmstads BK . At his new club he was under contract for two years before returning to Markaryds IF. After two years in the third division, he was again obliged by a club from the Allsvenskan . With Kalmar FF he occupied only relegation places in 1981 and 1982 and after relegation to the second division in 1982 he returned to his home club Markaryds IF. The club, which has now been relegated to the fourth division, managed to return to the third division in its first year.

At the same time, Bergstrand started as a coach at the lower-class Traryds IF . After the march into the second division had succeeded in 1984 with two wins in the promotion games against Linköpings FF , he was promoted to player-coach at Markaryds IF in 1985. In the first year in Division 2 Södra managed to stay in the league, in the second year the team was penultimate. After the direct resurgence and an eighth place in 1988, he ended his active career. In the following years he was able to establish the club in the back of the second division, before the end of the 1991 season was again relegated to the third division.

Bergstrand took over the then fifth division club Växjö Norra IF in 1992 , whom he immediately led to promotion and then to runner-up in the fourth division division 3 Sydöstra Götaland. In the following round of promotion succeeded the march through to the third division, but Bergstrand was poached due to the success of the local first division club Östers IF , where he stayed until 1996. During the 1997 season he took over the second division club IK Oddevold , who were in the relegation battle , but missed relegation and moved to his former station as a player, Kalmar FF in Småland. He led the league newcomer back to the Allsvenskan as a second division champion, but missed relegation there. So he moved on to Helsingborgs IF and led the club into the UEFA Champions League . In the first three games of the group his team had no chance, but in the final games they managed a 2-0 win against Rosenborg BK and FC Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain were drawn. In addition, the Allsvenskan 2000 was runner-up.

In 2002 Bergstrand returned to Kalmar FF again. Although the relegation was missed in the 2002 season, the Superettan was dominated and the direct re-emergence managed. He was able to establish the team, which was peppered with young players such as Mikael Eklund , César Santin or Daniel Mobaeck , in the front area of the Allsvenskan in the following years. In 2007 he led KFF into the cup final, which was won 3-0 over IFK Göteborg , and reached the runner-up. In the 2008 season he kept the team in the top flight from the start of the season and led the club to their first championship title in club history. The double was only missed on penalties due to a defeat in the cup final against last year's finalist IFK Göteborg .

In the 2009 season Bergstrand succeeded in fourth place after a weak start to the season with Kalmar FF and thus made it back into the European Cup. In the summer he failed in the 2nd qualifying round for the Champions League 2009/10 under the away goals rule against the Hungarian representative VSC Debrecen . As a result, the club mainly placed in the middle of the table, and in 2011 the team reached the cup final again. Against the master Helsingborgs IF this was lost.

On July 8, 2013, Bergstrand announced that they would be leaving Kalmar FF at the end of the season after twelve years and devoting themselves to new goals. The following season he took over the post of head coach at the then second division club Hammarby IF , which he led back to the Allsvenskan as champions of the second division season in 2014 . There he placed in the lower midfield in the following two years. After the end of the 2016 season , the club separated from him because he wanted to pursue his higher ambitions with "a new force". In June 2017, Bergstrand returned to Kalmar FF as a coach again, as Peter Swärdh had been dismissed there after only eight points in the first twelve games, and signed a contract that was valid until the end of 2019.
