Career

Swärdh played as a defender at IFK Hässleholm . With the team he temporarily played in the second highest Swedish league, but ended his active career early.

After Swärdh had officiated as the main coach at his former play station IFK Hässleholm and Högaborgs BK , he took over the coaching position of the Helsingborgs IF youth team in 2000 . When Sören Cratz was relieved of his position as head coach of the club in August 2002 - he was willingly celebrated by the Stockholm fans in a 3-1 loss to his former club Hammarby IF - Swärdh moved up. Under his leadership, the team placed in the middle of the Allsvenskan table in the following years . Satisfied with his work and the development of the team, the club extended his contract for another two years in the summer of 2005. Starting the 2006 season with the aim of placing itself among the top four teams , the team failed to kick off the season in spring. As a result, the club management decided to change coach in May and installed the previous junior coach Hans Eklund as his successor in the coaching bench.

In December 2006, the second division presented Åtvidabergs FF Swärdh as a new coach after the previous owner of the coaching position Kent Karlsson had not extended his expiring contract, and signed a two-year contract with him with the option of an extension for a further season. In the 2007 and 2008 seasons he finished sixth in the table with the team around players like Kristian Bergström , Pontus Karlsson and Daniel Hallingström before he resigned after the end of the second season and moved on to Mjällby AIF within the league. With his new club he dominated the 2009 second division season . As leaders with eight points ahead of his previous club Åtvidabergs FF, he led the team around Marcus Ekenberg , Patrik Rosengren , Daniel Nicklasson and Mattias Asper into the first division, where they surprised in their first year as sixth in the table. In the following two years she placed under his leadership in the lower midfield of the table.

In November 2012 it was announced that Swärdh would leave Mjällby AIF after four years at the turn of the year and return to first division promoted Åtvidabergs FF, where he replaced Andreas Thomsson . In the following two seasons he finished eighth with the team. In mid-November 2014, he and the club terminated his contract early after the end of the season by mutual agreement. A few days later, the league competitor Kalmar FF signed him , with whom he signed a contract valid until the end of 2016 with an option for one more season. After saving the club from relegation in the first season in the back midfield, he reached sixth place in the table with the team in the 2016 season . However, he was unable to confirm the success, in the following season he started with just eight points from the first twelve games - the club's weakest start to the season since the league was increased to 16 teams in 2008. As a result, the club separated from him in mid-June 2017.
