Kristian Bergström (born January 8, 1974 in Åtvidaberg ) is a Swedish football player . The midfielder made two appearances for the Swedish national team in 2001 .
Career
Bergström started his career at Åtvidabergs FF . For the club he made his debut in the third division division 2 Östra Götaland in the men's team. In 1995 he was promoted to Division 1 with the club . There he established himself as a regular player and was noticed in the 1997 season as a regular goalscorer and finished second in the club's internal goalscorer list with eight goals this season behind Mattias Flodström .
As a result, Bergström was signed by IFK Norrköping for the 1998 season . In the Allsvenskan he was one of the club's regular players and played his way into the national team. On January 31, 2001, he made his debut in the national jersey when he was substituted on for Tobias Grahn in the 87th minute of the 0-0 draw against the Faroe Islands . The following day he played his second and so far last international match. In the 1-0 defeat against Finland by a goal from Timo Marjamaa , he was allowed to play 65 minutes and was then replaced by Zlatan Ibrahimović .
After Bergström had only missed one game of the season in the 2002 season, Malmö FF reported interest in a commitment. Since his contract expired at the end of the season, he moved to league rivals on a free transfer. Here he could not prevail, however, and returned after a season to his hometown club ÅFF playing in the Superettan. In 2005 Bergström reached the cup final against Djurgårdens IF with his club . In front of 11,613 strollers, the second division in the Råsundastadion lost to the champions with goals from Toni Kuivasto and Tobias Hysén with 0-2. Nevertheless, the team qualified for the UEFA Cup , where they clearly failed in the following season due to the Grasshopper Club Zurich coached by Krassimir Balakow .
In spring 2007 IFK Norrköping was interested in a renewed commitment from Bergström. After the transfer did not materialize, the midfielder briefly considered ending his career. After he made a decision, he was still one of the club's regulars and missed almost no game. In January 2008 he considered leaving the club in the direction of Allsvenskan, but ultimately extended his contract with Åtvidabergs FF. In the 2009 season he was on the side of Henrik Gustavsson , Christoffer Karlsson , Jesper Arvidsson and Daniel Hallingström to the pillars of the team, which made it to the Allsvenskan as second behind Mjällby AIF . The first division season 2010 ended the club due to the worse goal difference compared to Gefle IF on a relegation zone, in the subsequent second division season Bergström was significantly involved in the direct rise as second division champion with eight goals and ten assists.
