Life

After attending various high schools, he studied history, literature and political science in Kraków . After that he was initially a journalist in Krakow. He later worked for the Polish-language newspaper Wiarus Polski in Bochum . From 1905 he wrote for Gazeta Toruńska in Torun and also for Przyjanel.

Brejski eventually became the owner and publisher of these newspapers. The Wiarus Polski newspaper was the Polish-language newspaper with the highest circulation in the Ruhr area. In 1911 it had a circulation of 9,000 copies, almost all of which went to subscribers. Founded by the clergyman Franciszek Liss on behalf of the Polish bishops to protect Polish emigrants from social democratic influences, Brejski has transformed them from a primarily religious newspaper into a radically Polish nationally oriented newspaper. He wanted to promote the national cause among the politically indifferent miners. Adam Bresjski, brother of Jan Bresjki, was temporarily editor-in-chief of the paper. This became a kind of unofficial central organ and organizational center of the Ruhr Poles . He was imprisoned for press violations.

He and his brother played important roles in the Polish League founded in 1894. The same was true for other interest groups such as the Bochum Sokol Association . In the Ruhr area he was the founder of the Polish trade union Zjednoczenie Zawodowe Polskie (ZZP). This miners' organization was at times the most important Polish trade union in Germany. In Thorn he founded the first Polish professional association for agricultural workers with the name Polski Związek Rolny. He was also active in the anti-alcohol and abstainer movement.

Brejski was in the Reichstag elections of 1903 and 1907 in the Reichstag elected. As a member of the Reichstag, he represented the constituency district of Marienwerder 4 (Thorn - Kulm - Briesen). He was also a member of the Prussian House of Representatives . He was a member of the Polish parliamentary group .

After Poland gained independence, he was a member of the constituent Sejm from 1919 to 1922. Between 1919 and 1920 he was also State Secretary in the Ministry for the formerly Polish Territories. Then he was from 1920 to 1924 voivode of Pomerania . After 1926 he supported Piłsudski. Another candidacy for the Sejm was unsuccessful.
