Jan Kawulok (born January 27, 1946 in Wisła , Poland ) is a former Polish skier and today's ski jumping coach. In 1971 he became Polish champion in ski jumping .

Career

Kawulok began his sporting career at the LKS Wisła Istebna sports club . He was already able to achieve some successes with the juniors and was honored by the Polish Ski Association as the best young athlete at the Polish championships in the 1963/64 season.

Kawulok was a participant in the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble, France . He finished 20th in the Nordic Combined. He also took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1970 in Vysoké Tatry , where he reached 17th place in combined.

By winning the Polish championship in ski jumping in 1971 in Szczyrk , Kawulok was able to achieve his greatest national success. In 1972 he won his second championship title in the 4x10 km relay race. He was also able to win FIS competitions internationally.

Since the end of his career in 1973, Kawulok has been working successfully as a junior trainer at KS Wisła Ustronianka and was, among other things, the ski instructor of the future Polish ski jumping champion Jan Łoniewski . On September 30, 2012, he unveiled a memorial plaque in Wisła Aleja Gwiazd Sport , on which Adam Małysz is immortalized in addition to his name .

Jan Kawulok is the cousin of Olympian and Nordic skier Stanisław Kawulok .
