Jan Łoniewski (* 1958 ) is a former Polish ski jumper . He was Polish champion twice.

Career

Łoniewski, who started his career at Start Wisła , made his World Cup debut on March 24, 1980 in Štrbské Pleso . With the 33rd place he achieved his second best World Cup result of his career. In March he took part in the ski flying week - the unofficial ski flying world championship - in Harrachov , but remained unsuccessful. From the 1980/81 season Łoniewski was an integral part of the Polish national team. In his first jumping as part of the Four Hills Tournament in 1980/81 , however, he was unsuccessful and only ended up in the back places. It was only at the sixth station in Liberec that he jumped into the top 40 on the Ještěd normal hill , which he achieved again a few weeks later with a 37th place in Engelberg, Switzerland . Two weeks later, Łoniewski won the silver medal from Średnia Krokiew at the Polish Championships in Zakopane behind Stanisław Bobak . Nevertheless, he did not appear in the remaining World Cup competitions and ended the World Cup season without a single point.

In February 1982 Łoniewski became the Polish normal hill champion. In addition, he won the first team competition for the WKS Zakopane together with Tadeusz Fijas , Jarosław Mądry and Andrzej Kowalski . His only two participations in the ski jumping World Cup 1981/82 were in Štrbské Pleso , where he again missed the points. In the 1982/83 season Łoniewski went back to the World Cup more often and completed his second Four Hills Tournament . But again he was unsuccessful, so that his best result was 41st place on the Bergiselschanze in Innsbruck . Only three days after the end of the Four Hills Tournament he achieved his best career result with a 25th place in Harrachov von der Čerťák . At the Polish championships he won the bronze medal in Wisła .

At the end of January 1984, Łoniewski was second behind Piotr Fijas at the ski competitions held in Zakopane in honor of Bronisław Czech and Helena Marusarzówna . On his sixth participation in the Beskydy Tour , he achieved his best result in this series of competitions only a short time later with sixth place in his native Szczyrk . His last podium finish at the Polish Championships he achieved in 1986 by winning the bronze medal in the team competition for Olimpia Goleszów . Łoniewski took part in five competitions of the European Ski Jumping Cup between 1981 and 1989 and achieved his best result in February 1987 in Mátraháza, Hungary, with a third place. On February 1, 1989, he last competed at the Polish Championships and finished 14th.
