Jan-Marco Monday

Jan-Marco Montag (born August 12, 1983 in Cologne ) is a German hockey player . With the national hockey team he was Olympic and world champion.

Monday began his career at Schwarz-Weiß Köln . He played in England with the Old Loughtonians , in Spain with FC Barcelona and in 2008 moved from the Gladbach HTC to Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands. From 2009 to 2014 Montag was under contract at the KTHC Stadion Rot-Weiss . For the 2014/2015 season he took over the position of player-coach at HTC Blau-Weiss in Cologne .

Montag played in 2005 with the national hockey team at the European Championships and finished third. In 2006 the defender was there when the German team successfully defended the 2002 title at the World Cup in Mönchengladbach. In 2007 he won the Champions Trophy , but only finished fourth with the German team at the European Championships . Montag was a substitute for the team for the 2008 Olympic Games . Due to Oliver Korn's illness , Monday was used both in the semifinals against the Netherlands and in the Olympic final against Spain.

For his sporting success he received the silver bay leaf .

Jan-Marco Montag has completed 221 international matches. His father Joachim Montag played 16 times in the national team, his uncle Hans Montag was used in 100 international matches and was part of the 1976 Olympic squad .

On January 10, 2015, he was a candidate in the television show Schlag den Raab , but had to admit defeat to Raab after 14 games.
