Jan Pytlick (* 5. June 1967 in Thurø ) is from Denmark originating Handball coach . He coached the Danish national women's handball team from 1998 to 2006 and from 2007 to 2014.

The trained bricklayer played handball himself in his youth for the Danish club GOG , but had to give up this at the age of 19 due to a shoulder injury and became a handball coach. He coached the teams Team Esbjerg and GOG before he was signed in 1998 by the Danish Handball Federation as the successor to coach Ulrik Wilbek .

His successes as coach of the national team include second place at the 1998 European Championship , two Olympic victories ( 2000 Olympic Games and 2004 Olympic Games ), winning the 2002 European Championship , second place at the 2004 European Championship and third place at the 2013 World Championship .

After the world championship in 2005 , where the team finished 4th, Jan Pytlick accepted an offer from the GOG association. In March 2007, Pytlick gave up the post of coach from GOG and took over the office of national coach again, replacing the resigned Brian Lyngholm .

From February 2015 to January 2016, Pytlick was under contract with the Macedonian club ŽRK Vardar SCBT , where he worked as a consultant for the trainer Indira Kastratović . From the 2016/17 season he coached the Danish first division club Odense Håndbold . After losing the Danish Cup final in December 2019, Odense was fired. For the 2020/21 season he took over the men's team from SønderjyskE Håndbold .
