Jan Urban (born May 14, 1962 in Jaworzno ) is a Polish football coach and former football player . He is also a Spanish citizen .
Player career
society
Jan Urban began his career as a striker in Poland, where he played for the clubs Zagłębie Sosnowiec and Górnik Zabrze .
In 1989 he moved to the Spanish Primera División for CA Osasuna and later also played for Real Valladolid and CD Toledo . He is one of the few Polish football players who have been able to establish themselves in Spain .
He then ended his active football career at VfB Oldenburg and Górnik Zabrze .
National team
Jan Urban played 57 full international matches for the Polish national soccer team and took part in the 1986 World Cup.
Coaching career
Jan Urban was a youth and assistant coach at the Spanish first division club CA Osasuna for many years . On June 3, 2007 he started his first engagement in the Polish Ekstraklasa at Legia Warsaw . After his contract was dissolved there in the spring of 2010, he took over the Upper Silesian first division team Polonia Bytom on October 29, 2010 . His contract there was until the end of the 2010/11 season, but Urban was released in December 2010. From March 2011 to October 2011 he was the coach of Zagłębie Lubin . At the end of May 2012, he succeeded Maciej Skorża at Legia Warsaw . In July 2014 he went back to Spain to CA Osasuna.
