Jana Heinrich (born March 14, 1986 in Dresden ) is a German basketball player . She studied sports science and English at the Philipps University of Marburg .

The 1.88 m tall wing and center player began her basketball career in 1997 at the USV TU Dresden . In 2001 she switched to the Chemnitzer Basketgirls (now ChemCats Chemnitz ) and played there in the 2nd women's basketball league . In 2005 she graduated from high school in Chemnitz and then moved to the USA to the San Diego Aztecs , where she studied international business at the San Diego State University .

After a cruciate ligament rupture , she returned to Germany in 2006, where she was signed by BC Marburg despite a fresh injury . It was only towards the end of the 2006/07 season that she recovered and played in the regional league team , but was not given any service time in the Bundesliga team . In the 2007/2008 season she played for the first time in the Bundesliga team of BC Marburg. For the 2009/2010 season she moved to her old club ChemCats Chemnitz in the 2nd division and immediately rose to the 1st division. In preparation for the 2010/2011 season, she suffered another cruciate ligament tear. After the 2011/12 season, she left the club in order to concentrate fully on her studies. For the 2012/2013 season Jana Heinrich moved to the regional division Krofdorf-Gleiberg and rose to the 2nd Bundesliga with this. In November 2013 she moved to TG Neuss for professional reasons.

With the sports high school in Chemnitz (which represented Germany) Heinrich was runner-up in the world championship for pupils in Brazil in 2003. With the Chemcats she won the German U16 Championship in 2002 and the U20 in 2005.

In 2004 she took part in the European Championship with the German U18 national team.
