Janet Asimov

Janet Asimov (* 6. August 1926 in Ashland , Pennsylvania as Janet Opal Jeppson ; † 25. February 2019 in New York City ) was an American science fiction -author and psychoanalyst .

Career

Jeppson began her college years at Wellesley College and went to Stanford University for her BA. At Stanford she worked on the stability of light filter substances. She then received her MD from New York University Medical School and worked as a psychoanalyst.

She said: "At Wellesley, I came to think of death as a disorganization of the patterns called living with nothing supernatural left over."

Janet Asimov began writing science fiction for children under the name JO Jeppson in the 1970s. She was married to Isaac Asimov from 1973 until his death in 1992 and together with him wrote several science fiction books for young readers, including the series about the robot Norby.
