Jani Mattila (born September 17, 1976 in Nokia ) is a former Finnish ski jumper .

Life

Matilla started in 1992 in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup . For the 1992/93 season he was able to achieve some good results, so that on December 17, 1993 he was nominated for the first time for a jumping in the Ski Jumping World Cup . On the large hill in Courchevel he reached the 48th place. Two days later he was able to win a World Cup point for the first time with 30th place in Engelberg . At the end of the 1993/94 World Cup season he finished 94th in the overall World Cup with this one point.

At the Junior World Championships in 1994 in Breitenwang , he won the gold medal in team jumping together with Olli Happonen , Tero Koponen and Janne Ahonen .

Despite these successes, Mattila continued to jump in the Continental Cup. However, he could not achieve any greater success. On March 9, 1997, he started again in Lahti in a World Cup competition. With the 21st place he won ten World Cup points and with these points occupied 82nd place in the overall World Cup ranking at the end of the 1996/97 World Cup season.

After three more unsuccessful years in the Continental Cup, Mattila ended his active ski jumping career in 2000.
