Jaqobher (also Jaqabhaddu ) was an ancient Egyptian minor king of the Hyksos period ( Second Intermediate Period ) in the 15th or 16th dynasty .
Receipts and classification
So far it has only been documented by scarabs that were found in Canaan and in the Nubian Kerma , which indicates extensive trade relations. Its chronological classification is controversial. Some researchers identify him with one of the "great Hyksos" of the 15th Dynasty. Wolfgang Helck contradicts this and Jürgen von Beckerath equates Jaqobher with Apachnas from Manetho's list of kings , whereas William A. Ward identifies him with Beon based on the typological ranking of the scarabs . The latter is considered unlikely by Thomas Schneider . However, other researchers place Jaqobher in the 16th dynasty.
Surname
His personal name Jaqabhaddu ("[the god] Haddu protects") is of northwestern Semitic origin. Name variations next to Jaqobher are Jaqobjer, Yakub-her and Yaqeb-Hor.
