Jared Sullinger (born March 4, 1992 in Columbus , Ohio ) is an American basketball player who is currently under contract with the Shenzhen Leopards .

Career

Sullinger was one of the top high school players in the United States of his year and received the 2010 Naismith Prep Player of the Year Award for his performance . That year he was also selected for the McDonald's All-American Game in Columbus, where he was named Most Valuable Player of the Eastern selection, and played at the Jordan Brand Classic and the Nike Hoop Summit .

Sullinger then played for the Ohio State University team , the Ohio State Buckeyes, and was elected to the Consensus All-America First Team for his achievements in the NCAA in 2011 and 2012 . He also reached the Final Four of the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship with the Buckeyes in 2012 .

Sullinger was traded as a lottery pick prior to the NBA Draft . However, due to medical concerns about the resilience of his back, many teams shied away from drafting him. He was only selected in 21st place by the Boston Celtics . On November 17, 2012, Sullinger scored his first double-double in a 107-89 win against the Toronto Raptors with 12 points and 11 rebounds . On January 9, Sullinger set a new career record with 16 rebounds against the Phoenix Suns . On February 1, it was announced that Sullinger will no longer play a game due to back problems in the 2012/13 season .

In the summer of 2016, Sullinger signed a contract with the Toronto Raptors . After a season with the Raptors, he signed a contract with the Chinese club Shenzhen Leopards in 2017 .
