Jarrod Fletcher (born October 20, 1983 in Moe , Victoria ) is an Australian professional middleweight boxer .

Amateur career

Fletcher started boxing at the age of ten and won eight Australian championships. In 2001 he won the Patrons Cup in Papua New Guinea and in 2002 the silver medal in the light welterweight division at the Oceanic Championships in New Zealand. In 2003 he won the Commonwealth Welterweight Championship in Malaysia. He then boxed in the middleweight division. In this weight class, he won the silver medal at the Arafura Games in Australia in 2005 . At the 2005 World Championships in China, he lost to the Russian Matwei Korobow in the round of 16 .

In 2006 he won the Commonwealth Games in Australia and the Tammer Tournament in Finland, defeating James DeGale , Adonis Stevenson and Darren O'Neill , among others . In 2007 and 2008 he won the Oceanic Championships in Samoa, and in 2008 the International Boxing Grand Prix in the Czech Republic. He then represented his home country at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing , but lost in the preliminary round on points against Cuban Emilio Correa .

Professional career

In 2009 he switched to the pros and won his first twelve fights, seven of them prematurely. He was Australian champion and Asian champion of PABA in the middleweight division. In his thirteenth fight on September 14, 2012 for the Commonwealth Middleweight Championship, he was defeated by tKo in the second round against Billy Saunders (record: 14-0). With London , he boxed as a professional for the first time outside of Australia.

In December 2012, he beat Robbie Bryant (17-1) on points. After three early wins against Kiatchai Singwancha (32-8), Randy Suico (31-8) and Philip Kotey (21-6), he defeated Tim Kanofski (12-6) on points in October 2013. In addition, on February 1, 2014, he defeated Max Bursak (29-1) by unanimous decision on points and became the WBA international middleweight champion.

On August 9, 2014 he lost the fight for the WBA middleweight championship, by tKo in the fifth round against Daniel Jacobs (27-1). In December 2014 he lost on points to Daniel Geale (30-3).
