Quiñenco is one of the largest corporate conglomerates in Chile specializing in investing in companies in the industrial and financial sectors. Quiñenco was founded in 1957 by Andrónico Luksic Abaroa and belongs to the Luksic Group.

The holding company is listed on the Santiago Stock Exchange and the Luksic family holds 81% of it. According to a ranking by the Forbes business magazine , the Luksic family is the richest family in Chile. Andrónico Luksic Craig has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Quiñenco since 2013.

The company has six business areas: Financial Services, Beverage & Food, Industry, Energy, Transportation, and Ports & Maritime. It employs around 68,000 people in Chile and around the world, and its operating companies generated sales of over US $ 24.4 billion in 2015 .

Important subsidiaries with a percentage of Quiñenco's equity stake are:

  • Banco de Chile (51.1%) - Chile’s most profitable bank
  • Inversiones y Rentas SA - joint venture with Heineken, holds 60% of Compañía de Cervecerías Unidas , the largest beer producer in Chile
  • TechPack (65.9%) - packaging manufacturer, one of the oldest industrial groups in Chile
  • CSAV (56%) - formerly the largest shipping company in Latin America, largest shareholder in the shipping company Hapag-Lloyd
  • SM SAAM (50.8%) - number 1 among the port operators in Latin America and number 4 among tugboat services worldwide
  • Nexans (28.8%) - the world's leading cable manufacturer
  • Enex (100%) - second largest fuel supplier in Chile

In the 2000s, the value of Quiñenco assets increased 10 times. Low debt enabled the company to invest in new business areas. Quiñenco has partnerships with international corporations. Examples are the cooperation of the subsidiary CCU for food and beverages with Heineken , Nestlé and Pepsi , the cooperation of Banco de Chile with Citibank and the cooperation with Shell at ENEX, the number 2 among Chile's petrol station chains.
