Jaruco is a municipality and a city in the Cuban province of Mayabeque . Until 2010 the municipality was part of the dissolved province of La Habana .

It was founded in 1762 by the Spaniards as Ciudad Condal de San Juan Bautista de Jaruco and has around 20,400 inhabitants (as of 2003). The city is inland halfway between the capital Havana and Matanzas in the northwest of the province. Among the sights there is the Parque Escaleras de Jaruco , a scenic park.

The Benedictine order was given in 2009 Jaruco by the Cuban government as a seat for a monastery assigned. However, the assigned plot of land turned out to be unsuitable for a new monastery, so the community continues to have its provisional headquarters in Havana (as of 2011).
