Madruga is a municipality and a city in the Cuban province of Mayabeque . Until 2010 the municipality was part of the dissolved province of La Habana .
The city is north of Nueva Paz and east of San José de las Lajas . The settlement was officially founded in 1803.
The municipality has 30,640 inhabitants on an area of 464 km², which corresponds to a population density of 66 inhabitants per square kilometer.
The municipality is divided into seven districts ( barrio ): Concordia y Cayajabos, Este, Itabo, Majagua, Oeste, Sabana de Robles and San Blas.
