Jason Carlton Thompson (born July 21, 1986 in Mount Laurel , New Jersey ) is an American basketball player who is currently under contract with Fenerbahçe in the TBL . Thompson was active in the NBA between 2008 and 2016 .
NBA
After Thompson had played four years for Rider University in Lawrenceville , he was selected in the 2008 NBA Draft in 12th place by the Sacramento Kings. In the first two seasons of his career, Thompson started in a majority of the games. However, after the commitment of DeMarcus Cousins , he increasingly came from the bank.
In July 2012, Thompson extended his contract with the Kings.
After 7 years with the Kings, Thompson was transferred from the Kings to the Philadelphia 76ers in the summer of 2015 . For the Kings he scored 9.4 points and 6.9 rebounds on average in 541 games. After a few weeks he was transferred to the NBA champion, the Golden State Warriors for Gerald Wallace . With the Warriors Thompson saw little playing time and was fired in the middle of the season by the Warriors. Shortly thereafter, he signed a contract with the Toronto Raptors , for which he played the remaining games of the season.
In August 2016, Thompson moved to China to join the Shandong Golden Stars .
