Jatinangor
Jatinangor is a sub-district on the easternmost outskirts of Bandung on the island of Java in Indonesia . Jatinangor is mainly characterized by various departments of the Padjadjaran University , which have been moved here due to the increasing number of students. Jatinangor, like many parts of western Java, is heavily overpopulated and has enormous traffic and environmental pollution .
traffic
A bus line runs directly from the campus in Jatinangor to the main campus Dipati Ukur in Bandung and runs regularly during the day. The public transportation for short distances is like everywhere in the West Java angkot or the slightly more expensive ojek . Taxis can also be hired.
population
Jatinangor is mainly inhabited by students who come from all over the Indonesian archipelago . Foreign students, especially from Malaysia , also study here.
Shops and stores
Especially on the main street that leads directly to Bandung, there are numerous street vendors who mainly sell fruit and other food. But dealers with burned music CDs and films are also very common. Warungs (food stalls) and other businesses, mainly engaged in student accessories ( copy shops have specialized stationery stores, etc.), can be found throughout Jatinangor.
There are some internet cafes in Jatinangor that are open around the clock for the equivalent of 10 to 30 cents an hour, depending on the time of day.
Other facilities
A football stadium is located in the middle of the Padjadjaran University campus, which is only used by students for training purposes. There is a second military university in western Jatinangor, whose graduates are accepted into the civil service . In the north there is a large golf course with a hotel, which is mostly visited by the Chinese upper class of Indonesia. A large shopping center , which will ensure further traffic from Bandung and outside, is currently under construction.
Freetime activities
There are several things to do in Jatinangor such as: B. climbing , pencak silat , soccer or badminton , which is very popular in Indonesia and is mainly played in doubles and in one of the numerous small halls.
Furthermore, you can hike the mountainous landscape well . An interesting hiking destination is Gunung Geulis (Sundanese: pretty mountain) to the east , which has an old burial site on its summit.
