Javier Golovchenko

Javier Golovchenko (born March 12, 1974 ) is a Uruguayan swimmer .

Golovchenko has two appearances with the Uruguayan team in Pan-American Games in 1991 and 1995 . He also took part in the 1994 South American Games in Venezuela , where he won gold in the 100-meter chest and silver in the 100-meter butterfly course. He also represented his home country at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta . There he started the 100-meter butterfly route and the 200-meter butterfly distance. While he finished 33rd in the first-mentioned competition, setting a new Uruguayan national record that is still valid today, he placed 37th in the overall ranking over the 200-meter course. In 1999 he set a new Uruguayan record with the Uruguayan 4 × 100 meter medley relay, which still stands.

Golovchenko is the trainer of the swimmer Gabriel Melconian , who took part in the 2012 Olympic Games in London .

  • 100-meter butterfly (0: 55.26, established July 24, 1996 in Atlanta )
  • 4 × 100-meter medley relay (national team) (04: 03.01, set up in the composition with Zuasnabar , F. Picasso , Olmedo on October 11, 1999)
