Javier Naranjo Villegas (born January 21, 1919 in Abejorral , † March 7, 2014 in Santa Marta ) was a Colombian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Santa Marta .

Life

Javier Naranjo Villegas was ordained a priest on March 15, 1942 .

On June 2, 1971 he was appointed by Pope Paul VI. appointed Bishop of Santa Marta, capital of the Department of Magdalena . The Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia, Archbishop Angelo Palmas , donated him episcopal ordination on June 29, 1971 ; Co- consecrators were Tulio Botero Salazar CM , Archbishop of Medellín , and Arturo Duque Villegas , Archbishop of Manizales .

On July 24, 1980, Pope John Paul II accepted his early resignation. Javier Naranjo Villegas died on March 7, 2014 at the age of 95. The exequies took place the following day in the chapel of the Templo Universitario Nuestra Señora del Santísimo Sacramento .
