Jean-Claude Bourgueil (* 1. May 1947 in Sainte-Maure-de- Touraine , Region Center-Val de Loire ) is a French chef .

Career

Bourgueil came to Düsseldorf in 1970 after working at the Horcher restaurant in Madrid . In 1974 he won the second Michelin star as head chef for the Walliser Stuben . In 1977 he took over the noble restaurant Im Schiffchen in a baroque house in Düsseldorf-Kaiserswerth . In 1987 Im Schiffchen was awarded the third star , which the restaurant retained for 19 years - until 2006. In 2004 Paul Bocuse brought him the Knightly Order of the Legion of Honor for his services as "French culinary ambassador to Germany" . In 2005, Gault Millau temporarily removed the Im Schiffchen restaurant from its rating because Bourgueil had frankly admitted that he would also use the flavor enhancer glutamate to complete his dishes .

From 2007 to 2018, the Im Schiffchen was awarded two stars in the Michelin Guide and 16 points in Gault-Millau since 2014. In 2018, Bourgueil announced that at the age of 71, he would cut his engagement by half. Since July 2018, the two restaurants Im Schiffchen and Enzo have been merged to Im Schiffchen bei Enzo . This restaurant was also awarded a Michelin star. In May 2020, Michelin deleted the Im Schiffchen from its website.

Second restaurant

In 1986 the “Aalschokker” restaurant opened on the ground floor of the “Schiffchen” and was also awarded a Michelin star. In 2002 this became "Jean-Claude's Bistro", and from 2006 also received a Michelin star. In 2012 it became "Enzo in the Schiffchen", where Italian cuisine is offered. This restaurant has also received a Michelin star.
