Jean-Claude Michéa (born 1950 ) is a French political philosopher .

Life

Jean-Claude Michéa is the son of a cycling journalist and communist resistance fighter . Michéa was a member of the Parti communiste français (PCF) from 1969 to 1976 . He studied philosophy, received the Agrégation in 1972 and became a teacher at the Lycée Joffre in Montpellier . In 2010 he retired. He lives on a farm in the Landes department .

Michéa has published a variety of writings on political theory and practice, including several on George Orwell's work . He wrote forewords to French translations of the writings of the American historian Christopher Lasch . His writings were published in a small publishing house in Castelnau-le-Lez , and since 2014 this has been done by the Flammarion publishing house .

His criticism of liberalism is received by French populists and was quoted approvingly by Marine Le Pen in 2012 .
