Jean-Marc Pontvianne (born August 6, 1994 in Nîmes ) is a French athlete who specializes in the triple jump .

Athletic career

Jean-Marc Pontvianne has been competing since 2011, initially limited to the long jump and won the bronze medal at the French U18 championships. Just one year later, he started mostly in triple jump competitions and became French U20 runner-up in the summer. In 2013 he qualified for the U20 European Championships in Rieti, Italy. In the course of the season he confirmed distances over the 15-meter mark several times, at the championships he failed with 14.94 m in qualification.

In 2014 he became French U23 indoor and outdoor triple jump champion. In June of the same year, he jumped over the 16-meter mark for the first time at the U23 Mediterranean Championships and won the bronze medal. In 2015 he started at the U23 European Championships in Tallinn. There he could not build on the performances already shown and already failed in the qualification. In the 2017 season he was able to improve significantly. In the spring he set up his current indoor best performance with 17.13 m. A few weeks later he jumped 16.90 m at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade, with which he finished 6th. In May the outdoors jumped 17.13 m and took part in the World Championships in London in August . He was able to move into the final as second in his qualifying group, in which he finished eighth with 16.79 m out of a total of 12 finalists.

In the 2018 season, he did not get past the 17-meter mark. At the European Championships in Berlin, he finished seventh with a width of 16.61 m in the final. In 2019 he failed to qualify at the World Championships in Doha.

In 2015 and 2017 he was the French indoor champion.
