Jean-Marie Auberson

Jean-Marie Auberson (born May 2, 1920 in Chavornay , Switzerland ; † July 4, 2004 in Draguignan , southern France ) was a Swiss conductor and violinist .

Life

He studied violin with Victor Desarzens , viola with Alfred Pochon and theory with Alexandre Denéréaz and Aloÿs Fornerod at the Conservatoire de Lausanne and at the Cologne University of Music . From 1943 to 1946 he played as a violinist in the Orchester de Chambre de Lausanne and from 1946 to 1949 as a violist in the Orchester de la Suisse Romande . From 1950 to 1951 he studied conducting with Paul van Kempen at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, with Wolfgang von der Nahmer in Vienna and with Günter Wand in Cologne. He was also a student of Ernest Ansermet and Carl Schuricht . From 1956 to 1962 he was conductor at Radio Beromünster (Switzerland) and from 1962 to 1968 with the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra . From 1963 to 1965 he was the second conductor of the Orchester de Chambre de Lausanne. In 1968 he became a conductor (until 1973) at the Hamburg State Opera . From 1972 to 1975 he directed the Basel Radio Symphony Orchestra . From 1984 to 1986 he was the conductor of the basel sinfonietta .
