Jean-Pierre Egger

Jean-Pierre Egger (born July 30, 1943 ) is a former Swiss athlete specializing in the shot put and discus throw . Since the end of his active career, the gymnastics and sports teacher has been working as a trainer , specializing in strength training .

Between 1971 and 1980 Egger was nine times Swiss champion in the shot put and three times in the discus throw. With his best performance of 20.25 m, he is second in the all-time Swiss best list in the shot put, his best performance in the discus throw is 57.42 m.

Later he took over the training of the Swiss shot putter Werner Günthör , who became world champion three times with him . He also worked as a strength trainer for the Swiss sailing team Alinghi , the soccer team of the Grasshopper Club Zurich , the ski jumper Simon Ammann and Swiss Olympic .

During the 2008 Summer Olympics , Egger worked as an Olympic observer for Swiss television .
