Jean Nicolas Pierre Hachette

Jean Nicolas Pierre Hachette (born May 6, 1769 in Mézières , † January 16, 1834 in Paris ) was a French mathematician .

Career

Hachette studied in Reims and from 1788 worked at the École royale du génie de Mézières . He was a supporter of the revolution and became a member of the committee that prepared the opening of the École Centrale des Travaux Publics in 1794 - the later École polytechnique . In the same year he became assistant professor for descriptive geometry and in 1799 professor. In 1816 he was expelled from the faculty.

Around 1832 he reported to the Academy of Sciences on the experiments of Hippolyte Pixii . Since 1823 he was a member of the Académie des sciences.
