Jean Otth

Jean Otth (born November 16, 1940 in Lausanne ; † October 31, 2013 in Chavannes-près-Renens ) was a Swiss video artist .

life and work

Jean Otth studied art history and philosophy at the University of Lausanne , at the same time he attended the Lausanne Art School. From 1979 to 2002 Otth taught at the École cantonale d'art de Lausanne (ECAL) .

Otth was already working with video in the early 1970s .

"My idea is to add to the movement that a painting creates in its immobility, a movement in itself. It is a time movement which I also consider to be a color, that can be added to the painter's palette. "
