Jean Paul Farrugia (born March 21, 1992 in Pietà ) is a Maltese national football player .

Life

Farrugia has been a striker for the Maltese first division club Hibernians Football Club since 2008 . In the 2008/2009 season he won the Maltese Premier League championship with his club . In the 2011/2012 season he was loaned to league rivals FC Marsaxlokk . In 2013 he won the Maltese Football Cup with Hibernians FC . In the 2014/2015 season he was loaned to the Slovak club FC Spartak Trnava for one year . He then returned to the Hibernians , was loaned out to Sliema Wanderers for a year and a half in January 2016 and moved permanently to second division FC Chiasso in Switzerland in 2017 .

For the Maltese national football team , he played against the Gibraltar selection for the first time in 2014 . So far, he has made nine international matches in which he scored a goal in a 3-1 home defeat against Slovakia on March 26, 2017 .
