Jean Studer (born November 12, 1957 in Paris , resident in Trimbach ) is a Swiss politician of the Social Democratic Party (SP) and President of the Bank Council of the Swiss National Bank .

Jean Studer was a member of the Neuchâtel City Council from 1988 to 1997 and the Grand Council of the Canton of Neuchâtel from 1993 to 2000 . In 1999 he was elected to the Council of States . After his election to the Neuchâtel State Council on April 12, 2005, he resigned as a Council of States. As a State Councilor, he headed the Department of Justice, Security and Finance. From June 2008 to May 2009 he was Vice President of the State Council. Studer resigned at the end of July 2012, as he was elected President of the Bank Council of the Swiss National Bank for the 2012-2016 term (May 1, 2012 to April 30, 2016) by the Federal Council .

In 2007 Studer was appointed to the Bank Council of the Swiss National Bank, and from 2008 to the end of April 2012 he was Vice President of the Bank Council. On April 18, 2012, the Federal Council elected him President of the Bank Council for the 2012–2016 term (May 1, 2012 to April 30, 2016).

Jean Studer studied at the University of Neuchatel Law and owns the bar exam . He has been married for the second time since 2008. Studer has two daughters from his first marriage and one daughter from his second marriage.

Culture

Studer has been President of the Organizing Committee of the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival since 2013 .
