Hans Meyboden

Hans Meyboden (born February 20, 1901 in Verden (Aller) , †  March 5, 1965 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German painter .

Life

Hans Meyboden - grew up in Verden an der Aller - attended a grammar school in Bremen . After graduating from high school, he began studying at the Art Academy in Dresden in 1919 and was Oskar Kokoschka's master class until 1923 . Following stays abroad, he worked as a freelance artist in Berlin-Charlottenburg from 1925 and studied at the Berlin Art Academy from 1929 to 1933. In 1933, Hans Meyboden moved to the artist village of Fischerhude .

His works were bought by the Ministry of Culture in Berlin for museums, but from 1937 onwards his works were considered degenerate art .

After losing his studio and almost all of his work in Charlottenburg due to the bombing raids during the war in 1942 and his marriage in 1944, he worked exclusively in Fischerhude. In 1956 he was appointed to the Karlsruhe Academy of Fine Arts in Freiburg.

Memberships

Hans Meyboden was a member of the Academy of Arts in Berlin and from 1956 to 1960 a board member of the German Association of Artists .
