Jeboja ( 제보자Whistleblower ”) is a film by the South Korean director Lim Soon-rye from 2014. It is based on the forgery scandal by the scientist Hwang Woo-suk .

The film was released in South Korean cinemas on October 2, 2014 and had 1.75 million viewers.

TV reporter Yoon Min-cheol is looking for a story for his investigative program PD Chujeok . He discovers that Newman Medical is illegally procuring eggs . However, he has no evidence and his supervisor wants him to stop the investigation because the clinic is linked to renowned scientist Lee Jang-hwan. However, Yoon investigates further and asks a friend to give him the number of one of Lee's employees.

He tries to reach the scientist Shim Min-ho, but his wife, who also works for Lee, answers and hangs up immediately. However, Shim later calls back and wants to meet the reporter. Shim has already worked for Dr. Lee gave up. When Yoon asks about the illegally obtained eggs, Shim tells him a lot more. All of Lee's research is wrong, and he has never been able to clone human eggs. However, Shim has no solid evidence of this. However, Yoon trusts him and continues to investigate.

He and his colleague, Kim I-seul, discover that Lee's team has a larger PR department than research. So Lee would try to get the entire media on his side. The team continues to search for evidence and try to get to the bottom of Hwang's research. Via Shim they come across the scientist Lee Do-hyeong, who also worked for Dr. Lee worked. He confesses to Yoon, who is filming him, that Lee asked him to falsify the research and Shim should confirm it.

When Yoon has enough material, he offers Lee to take a stand before the broadcast. He accepts this and Lee can only hesitantly answer some questions. In the end, however, he offers Yoon that he can examine the cloned stem cells. When Yoon and his camera team leave the building, they are cursed at by an angry crowd and pelted with eggs. Many people think the television crew is preventing Lee from doing his job. In the following, the station is confronted with protests from the population. To avoid the hail of criticism, Yoon and his colleague Kim track down the dog Molly, who was cloned by Lee . He suffers from cancer and can barely walk. When the team returned to the station, Lee Do-hyeong broadcast a statement on television alleging that Yoon forced a false testimony from him. The sender is then against sending its report. In addition, Shim's wife is supposed to testify against her husband and she wants to do it too. But then he explains to her why he left Lee's team and his wife also becomes skeptical because Lee asked his staff for egg donation. She gets stem cells from Lee's laboratory and hands them over to Yoon.

Yoon also meets with Lee and hopes that he will soon receive the stem cells from his research. However, Lee doesn't give it to him. Nevertheless, the mood in the population changed when Yoon's colleague Kim made a post in an Internet forum with the wrong stem cell images from Lee. This is often shared with comments that the broadcaster should broadcast the report. After a while, the transmission line agrees and Shim is given the opportunity to explain how complex stem cell research is.

The film is based on the forgery scandal surrounding the scientist Hwang Woo-suk . When he was Professor of Biotechnology at Seoul National University , he achieved international renown in 2004 for his claim to have cloned human stem cells. Thanks to the tip of the whistleblower Ryu Young-joon, Hwang's unethical behavior and falsifications were uncovered through the MBC program PD Notebook .
