Robert Alexander Swenson, Jr. , better known as Jeep Swenson (born January 5, 1957 in San Antonio , Texas - † August 18, 1997 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor , wrestler and stuntman . He is best known to the general public as the Bane actor in the movie Batman & Robin .

Career

Wrestling

Swenson began his wrestling career in 1987 as Jeep the Mercenary in the Texas-based Promotion World Class Championship Wrestling . He was accompanied by manager Gary Hart and worked there mainly in a feud program with Bruiser Brody . In the early 1990s, he made some appearances at the Dallas- based Global Wrestling Federation before he found himself in the WCW in 1996 under the name The Ultimate Solution as a member of the Dungeon of Doom . It was originally intended to be called The Final Solution , but due to protests by Jewish organizations, as the name was too similar to the term Nazi genocide , the name was changed from Final to Ultimate. Because of his extreme physique he was very limited in wrestling and there were few appearances.

Boxing

Swenson tried twice as a boxer without success. His first fight in 1983 ended after only 57 seconds with a defeat by a technical knockout against the otherwise winless and over 34 kg lighter Frank Garcia. In 1996 he held out against Tony Halme from Finland for 2:28 minutes before losing by knockout.

Acting

Due to his impressive stature, Swenson received his first film role in the Jackie Chan film The Big Brawl in 1980 . It was followed by a few other supporting roles in films and TV series such as Walker, Texas Ranger on the side of Chuck Norris . He was allowed to play his most famous and greatest role as the masked villain Bane in the movie Batman & Robin . Swenson died shortly after the film was released.

Private

• His nickname Jeep got Swenson by his father Robert Alexander Swenson, Sr., a soldier nicknamed tank , which was of the opinion that each tank (Engl. Tank ) a Jeep needs.
• Swenson had been married to Erin since 1985 and had one daughter.
• At his funeral, the funeral orations were given by James Caan , whose bodyguard he played in Bulletproof , and Hulk Hogan .
