Jeff Kimmel

Jeff Kimmel (* around 1985) is an American jazz musician ( clarinet , bass clarinet , composition ) who is active in the Chicago music scene.

Live and act

Kimmel studied at the New England Conservatory of Music , where he obtained his Bachelor's degree in Jazz Performance , and worked in the Chicago jazz and improv scene from the late 2000s onwards. a. in The Lightbox Orchestra under the direction of Fred Lonberg-Holm , in a duo with Peter Maunu and in a trio with David Moré and Jacob Wick ( Tilting , 2011) and in 2012 in a trio with Tim Stine and Anton Hatwich . In 2011 he presented his debut album Charm Offensive (Ormolu Music) with his own compositions, which he recorded in a quartet with Keefe Jackson , Devin Hoff and Marc Riordan .

Currently (2018) Kimmel is a member of Keefe Jackson's sextet Likely So , with Jason Stein , Nick Mazzarella , Dave Rempis and Mars Williams ; he also plays in a trio with Eli Namay (bass) and Phil Sudderberg (drums). Kimmel has received scholarships from the Atlantic Center for the Arts and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. He teaches at the British International School of Music.
