Jacob Wick

Jacob Wick (* around 1985) is an American jazz and improvisation musician ( trumpet , composition ) and installation artist .

Wick grew up in the Chicago suburbs and then lived in Brooklyn, Oakland, and Los Angeles. One of his musical impressions that led him to jazz in college was the performance of the Cecil Taylor Large Ensemble at the Iridium Jazz Club . Since 2003 he has been studying art; He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Purchase College, State University of New York in 2007 and a Masters degree from California College of the Arts in 2013 .

Since the 2000s he has worked in the American jazz scene in the formations The HighLife around Jason Ajemian , Hungry Cowboy (with Briggan Krauss , Jonathan Goldberger , Mike Pride ), Kenosha Kid , Tres Hongos (with Frank Rosaly , Marc Riordan ) and in a trio David Moré and Jeff Kimmel (Album Titing , 2011). In 2011 he performed with Andrew D'Angelo at the Moers Festival . He has lived in Mexico City since 2014 ; there he played u. a. in Gibrán Andrade Cuarteto ( Puente , 2016), also with Toshimaru Nakamura , Bonnie Jones , Katherine Young , Andrew D'Angelo, Ted Byrnes , Michael Foster and Josh Roseman .
