Iridium Jazz Club (New York)

The Iridium Jazz Club is a jazz club in New York City that has existed since 1994 .

The Iridium Jazz Club is located at 1650 Broadway at the corner of 51st Street. The club was originally formed in January 1994 on 63rd Street and 8th Avenue. That first eatery, Iridium Room Jazz Club , was in the basement under the Merlot restaurant across from Lincoln Center ; According to Ronald Sturm, the club's manager, he should give younger mainstream musicians such as Marcus Printup , Cyrus Chestnut or Carl Allen the opportunity to perform. After three renovations, the club finally moved to its current location on Broadway / 51st Street in August 2001. Live recordings by musicians such as Kenny Garrett , Jacky Terrasson , Charlie Haden , Kenny Barron , Benny Carter , Jazz Messengers , Sweets Edison , Anthony Braxton and Clark Terry were made in the club .

Guitar legend Les Paul performed weekly at the club from 1995 until his death in 2009 at the age of 94 .
