Pi recordings

Pi Recordings is a music label for jazz music based in New York , which was founded in 2001 by Seth Rosner. The label mainly publishes works by musicians who are classified as creative jazz .

The label

Pi Recordings was founded by Rosner, then manager of Knitting Factory Works , to publish Henry Threadgill's recordings. Since 2002 he has been supported by Yulun Wan as a partner.

The German jazz magazine Jazz thing selected the Pi recordings by Henry Threadgill's band Zooid ( This Brings Us To, Vol. 1 ) and Steve Lehman Octet ( Travail, Transformation, and Flow ) as the top two best jazz publications of 2009. Ten years after the label was founded, Jen Shyu was the first woman to publish on the label.
