Mike Pride (* 7. July 1979 in Portland , Maine ) is an American jazz - improvisation and rock musicians ( drums , vocals , composition ).

Life

Pride grew up in southern Maine and took lessons from Les Harris, Jr., Bill Street, and Matt Wilson ; during this time he joined a. a. with David Baker on. He has lived in New York City since 2000, studied with Milford Graves and has worked since then a. a. with Nels Cline , Eugene Chadbourne , Trevor Dunn , Mary Halvorson , Jon Irabagon , George Lewis , Tony Malaby , Butch Morris , Matana Roberts , Herb Robertson , Jason Stein and Nate Wooley , as well as with the punk bands Ned Muffleburger and Millions of Dead Cops . Under his own name he presented a number of albums for labels such as Not Two or AUM Fidelity ; In addition, he worked as a visual artist and composes music for film, television (such as for the MTV series Room Raiders ) and video games. In the field of jazz, Pride participated in 17 recording sessions between 2001 and 2012.
