Jenő Jandó

Jenő Jandó [ ˈjɛnøː ˈjɒndoː ] (born February 1, 1952 in Pécs ) is a Hungarian pianist and professor at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest. The British daily Daily Telegraph once called him The busiest man on the keyboard .

Life

Jenő Jandó received his first piano lessons from his mother when he was 7 years old. He later studied piano at the Franz Liszt Music Academy under Katalin Nemes and Pál Kadosa . He graduated there in 1974 and won a number of Hungarian and international prizes, such as the Cziffra and Ciani piano competition and 3rd place in the Hungarian Beethoven competition in 1970.

His professional career began with winning 1st prize at the Hungarian Piano Competition in 1974 and first place at the International Piano Competition in Sydney in 1977 in the chamber music category . He impresses with his sensitive, unpretentious playing and is not restricted to specific composers. His best interpretations include Rachmaninoff's 2nd piano concerto and his recordings by Schumann .

Jenő Jandó can present a very extensive repertoire today. He has all the piano sonatas of Ludwig van Beethoven , all piano concertos and piano sonatas of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , both parts of the Well-Tempered Clavier by Johann Sebastian Bach , the complete piano sonatas of Joseph Haydn , all piano concertos and many solo piano works of Bartók and much of the piano sonatas of Franz Schubert recorded.
